LANDOVER — Washington Redskins running back Samaje Perine will be active Sunday against the Denver Broncos after being previously listed questionable with a groin injury.
Perine, the Redskins’ leading rusher, tweaked his groin during Thursday’s practice and was held out for the remainder of the session, as well as the next day. Perine said Friday that he’s played through worse and wasn’t concerned.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Perine could be on a pitch count, even with Perine active. If Perine’s normal role is scaled back, expect running back Kapri Bibbs to get most of the carries.
Meanwhile, safety DeAngelo Hall tops the list of the Redskins’ inactives. Hall, 34, hasn’t played a defensive snap since Nov. 30 against the Dallas Cowboys, when he recorded only one snap. He was benched after the Redskins’ loss to New Orleans.
Fish Smithson, who was promoted to the active roster Tuesday after the Redskins placed rookie Montae Nicholson (concussion) on injured reserve, will be Washington’s third safety.
Besides Hall, the following players are inactive for the Redskins:
